Lidl have been targeted by scam artists in relation to a fake competition text that’s been doing the rounds around Ireland.
It’s understood that the supermarket chain have alerted Gardai to the issue with An Gardai issuing a stern warning as to the nature of the scam.
The text purportedly comes from discount retailer Lidl, offering non-existent prizes for fake competitions.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that Lidl never sends text to people, and that all its offers are run through its official social media channels.
People are advised to share this information with their friends, especially with their elderly neighbours and family.
