Irish people are being phoned all week by a phone number from the Central African Republic.
It appears that scam artists are ringing people in Ireland attempting to do them out of some of their hard-earned cash.
They’re attempting to get people to ring them back in many cases and even require their credit card details in others.
The number most frequently calling is the following: +236 7799 4886
People are advised to NOT answer this number under any circumstances, and if your phone allows it – block it.
It’s understood that the gardai are aware of this happening and have asked people to share this information with their friends in an effort to raise awareness – especially with the elderly.
