The decrepit state of the Irish health system is once again laid bare, after it emerged that an elderly patient was left waiting 25 hours on a hospital chair.
The shameful episode happened at the A&E department at Dublin’s Mater hospital last Monday.
It is understood that the woman suffered a kidney infection, which brought on mild delusions.
The woman, named as 92-year-old Gladys Cummins, was left on a chair while waiting for treatment. She was not seen for about 25 hours from arrival.
