It has been revealed that hospitals across the country earn a staggering €60,000 from parking charges.
According to The Irish Mirrornewspaper, latest figures obtained from Sinn Féin’s health spokesperson Louise O’Reilly, showed that for the year 2017, the HSE raked in over €22m in parking fees.
The figures which have been described as scandalous, has now led to fresh calls for the charges to be scrapped all together.
Meanwhile Ms O’Reilly slammed the figures saying that it was effectively charging the sick and their families.
She also said the charges were completely unfair and it was not acceptable that people who are going through stressful situations are left to deal with hefty parking charges.
It is believed that the HSE earned €22.4m from parking charges in the year ending 2017.
