The number of rough sleepers in Dublin city centre has increased by almost 30% a leading homeless charity has revealed.
The news comes after a protest was held outside the Civic Offices in Dublin this afternoon.
Speaking to RTÉ News, Anthony Flynn, from Inner City Helping Homeless, said the number of rough sleepers has risen 28% in past six months.
He also revealed that the charity had to assist a total of 238 people in just one night earlier this week.
The protest was held held to highlight the amount of homeless people using tents across the city which stands at 40%.
