According to a report issued recently it is understood that senior management at the HSE are being heavily criticised paying out high wages to senior staff members.
The report claims that managers in the country’s health service are outrageously earning up to €147,000 per year. The report also suggests that a significant number of workers salaries has risen by 30% since 2012. The news has angered Fianna Fáil’s health spokesperson Billy Kelleher, who says the salaries at the HSE are scandalous, Mr Kelleher has said, given that there are severe shortages it was unacceptable that precious funding was being diverted to hiring and promoting more managers.
However the HSE has since defended their salary policy claiming that the health service currently needs good managers to provide focus.
