Scare tactics: Richard Bruton says ‘If you’re worried you’ll still have a job to go to, vote FG/Labour”

One can discern a bitter tinge of desperation in Fine Gael’s last minute statements before tomorrow’s election.

This morning, minister Richard Bruton has hinted that his party would be willing to do anything it takes to cling on to government, including a “rainbow” coalition if they fall short on the numbers required.

Mr. Bruton insisted that the the only ‘coherent’ option for the people is to maintain a Fine Geal/Labour Government.

He said “The question the people have to ask is: What’s going to lessen the threats in their lives by their choice on Friday?”

“And it’s very clear – if you’re worried about that you’ll still have a job to go to, you very defiantly will go for Fine Gael and Labour.”

“If it’s less than the required (numbers), then we have to find the numbers to make it up,”
“But clearly, we’re the only solid bloc that will be in a position to be close to the 78 (seats) to form a Government.”
