Met Éireann is predicting a cold spell for the weekend, with the chilly conditions expected to persist into the new year.
Snow will fall on high lying ground in particular, with b-roads treacherous in places.
According to the national weather forecaster, snow is now likely in the coming week – they say that school closures will be a possibility and for people to check in their local Facebook/whatsapp group for updates in their area should snow fall in their region.
Temps will drop to as low as -3c with the outlook appearing wintry across the country.
