Leading scientists have dismissed claims that large doses of Vitamin D can protect against Covid-19.
According to Metro.co.uk, scientists at the University of Brighton have said that there are number of misleading articles about the subject and the public should be informed.
Speaking about the subject Professor Colin Smith said that there is a number of misleading articles about the use of vitamin d when it comes to preventing or treating covid-19.
Writing in the BMJ journal Nutrition, Prevention and Health, professor Smith said that although vitamin D is highly important for people’s immune system there is no strong evidence in regards to Covid-19.
Professor Smith added thar there are evidenced health risks when it comes to taking large doses of Vitamin D such as reduced kidney function.
He added that although Vitamin D has proven health benefits, people should follow the recommended daily allowance which are set out by the Government.
