Temperatures across Ireland are expected to soar to as high as 28 degrees this weekend as the country prepares for a “very warm or hot” midsummer period, reports The Mirror.
In its latest update, Met Éireann has forecast highs of 27 to 28 degrees on Saturday, describing it as “another very warm or hot day with widespread sunshine.” This follows initial uncertainty around weekend conditions, though Friday is now also shaping up to be just as hot.
According to Met Éireann, both Friday and Saturday will experience “light to moderate” breezes, which may have people heading for shade more often while enjoying time outdoors, reports The Mirror.
Weather models indicate that several parts of the country could see temperatures reaching or exceeding 27 degrees on Saturday, including the eastern region near Dublin, the west in Donegal, areas around Limerick and north Kerry, and inland counties like Offaly and Westmeath.
The warm spell is expected to extend across the entire country, with nearly all areas forecast to reach 25 degrees or higher during peak times over the weekend, reports The Mirror.
While Met Éireann hasn’t yet released its forecast for Sunday and beyond, preliminary weather charts—which should be viewed cautiously at this stage—point to similarly warm, sunny weather on Sunday and into Monday, before rain begins to move in from the west by Monday afternoon.
For now, here’s the detailed Met Éireann forecast for the days ahead.
Tuesday
A mostly cloudy start with scattered light rain and drizzle. Conditions will brighten from the west and southwest through the afternoon, bringing sunny spells, though Ulster may remain mostly overcast. It will feel humid, with top temperatures ranging from 17 to 25 degrees, warmest in southern areas, in light to moderate westerly breezes, reports The Mirror.
Some patchy drizzle is expected in western and northwestern areas overnight, but it will otherwise stay dry with broken cloud. A mild night is in store, with lows of 10 to 15 degrees and light westerly breezes.
Wednesday
Largely dry throughout the day, with only isolated light showers possible in parts of the west and north. The morning will be generally cloudy, but warmer sunshine is forecast to break through in the east and southeast by afternoon and evening. Temperatures will peak between 17 and 24 degrees in light westerly breezes, reports The Mirror.
Dry weather will continue overnight with some clear spells at first, though cloud will gradually move eastward. Temperatures will remain mild, staying above 11 to 15 degrees with light southerly or variable breezes.
Thursday
Most areas will enjoy a dry day with warm sunshine, though northern and northwestern counties could remain cloudier with a chance of light showers. Daytime highs will reach between 21 and 26 degrees, with light southerly or variable breezes, reports The Mirror.
Overnight will stay dry with clear skies and some fog expected to form in southern regions. Temperatures will not fall below 11 to 14 degrees, with light southerly breezes.
Friday
After a foggy beginning in the south, widespread sunshine is anticipated throughout the country. It will become hot during the day, with maximum temperatures ranging from 22 up to 27 or 28 degrees, all in light southerly breezes, reports The Mirror.
