The 39-yr-old went missing Saturday afternoon while climbing the third stage of the Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara, between Masua and Cala Domestica, according to reports from the Italian national broadcaster RAI and other Italian media agencies.

The man was not been seen since they parted ways, presumably while out trekking with his siblings, reports RTE.

According to RAI, a search and rescue helicopter, piloted drones with thermal imaging equipment, an Alpine Rescue team, and drivers are all participating in the operation, reports RTE.

Sadly, the search was called off after a body was found late on Sunday evening.
