20-year-old Vicky Balch has become the second victim of the Alton Towers rollercoaster crash to have a leg amputated.
Following seven surgery bouts, doctors decided to amputate the young woman’s leg.
Ms. Balch was riding on the front seats in one of the carriages of the Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers, when it collided with an empty carriage on June 2 last.
Another victim, 17-year-old Leah Washington, also had her leg amputated after the accident.
Alton Towers was closed for six days following the rollercoaster incident.
