The Royal Navy has dispatched a second warship to the Gulf area, amidst escalating tensions with Iran.
The HMS Duncan, a missile-equipped destroyer, is now en route to the strategically important area around the Strait of Hormuz. The deployment comes days after another British warship, the HMS Montrose, was forced to ward off a number of Iranian gunboats attempting to seize an oil tanker.
The Iranian action was sparked after British custom officers seize an Iranian tanker bound for Syria at the Strait of Gibraltar last week. It is understood that some key crew members were arrested.
