Secondary school students will pay less for driving tests if they take new road safety course

Secondary school students will be expected to pay less to take the driving test and receive driving theory test scores as part of a new road safety course, reports Breaking News.

The course, developed by the Department for Education in collaboration with the Road Safety Authority (RSA), will be rolled out in schools from September next year in a bid to reduce accidents and deaths.

As the Irish Examiner reports, the move is part of a series of road safety changes being examined amid a worrying rise in deaths this year, reports Breaking News.

As of yesterday morning, 177 people had died in road traffic this year, 28 more than last year.

Between 2014 and 2022, a total of 56 children were killed and 852 seriously injured on Irish roads, reports Breaking News.
