The union representing secondary school teachers have confirmed that they are to ballot for industrial action.
It is understood that the decision comes after a number of teachers have voiced concerns over issues surrounding schools reopening.
In an announcement the ASTI say a decision for a ballot was made following a meeting by the Central Executive Committee today.
It is believed that teachers have become concerned physical distancing in schools, and the provision of PPE.
They are also concerned about definition of close contacts and the turnaround times for those tests.
