Services at Portarlington Station suspended after fire breaks out




Commuters travelling to Portarlington, will be forced to get off at Portlaoise, following a fire at a building near the station.

It is understood that Irish Rail made the announcement in the past few minutes after a fire broke out this afternoon.

In a tweet Irish Rail said the following: “Services will not stop at Portarlington due to a fire in a building adjacent to the station. Emergency Services are attending. Update to follow.”

Irish Rail also say they are willing to provide alternative travel arrangements to those who are scheduled to stop at the station, if the situation isn’t resolved soon.

It is understood that a number of emergency personnel have arrived at the scene to deal with the blaze.
