At least seventeen people have been injured, some of them seriously, at a car enthusiasts event in Stevenage, UK.
The ‘car cruise’ event was being held at Monkswood Way, Stevenage, on Thursday evening. The event, which has been held regularly in the area for the last 17 years, gathers car enthusiasts from all over the UK.
The event does not usually involve high-speed driving, focusing instead on ‘cruising’ and walk abouts around the vehicles.
But organisers of this year’s event say that ‘rogue’ drivers began performing stunts that culminated in two cars colliding at high speed, causing both to plow into crowds and resulting in multiple injuries.
The organisers have now said that they will cancel all future events.
