Sharp decline in support for Fine Gael

poll

The latest opinion poll shows that popular support for Fine Gael is nosediving, mere months ahead of the next general election.

The party has lost a very significant five points, and now stands at 24pc, just one point ahead of Fine Fail.

Labour meanwhile remains in paltry single digits at 7pc. If the trend continues, the Coalition wouldn’t be able to scape enough votes together to form a working government.

Sinn Fein remains unchanged at 21pc, and Independents and others are up four points to 24pc. This seems to follow a recent trend of voters moving away from the established two parties and into new political options.
