Sheer folly: Irish Water’s 25-year plan approved by Government

In a new example of throwing good money after bad, the Government has approved the doomed utility’s long term plan for the next 25 years.

While the groans and moans of the Anglo ghost still resonate through the fabric of Irish society, another pile of money is poised to be burned, this time at the Irish Water funeral pyre.

The vapid company’s plan talks about objectives and strategies for the next few years, throwing in buzzwords such as “Meeting Customer Expectations” and claiming the much-hated utility is undergoing a “period of transformation”.

Two of the strategies proposed are to “establish effective communication channels with customers” and to “establish national customer service standards”.

The truth remains that a very small percentage of the population have actually paid their bill, so Irish Water’s 25-year plan is as stillborn as the company itself.
