Authorities in the US have launched an investigation after a the bodies of 11 infants and stillborns were found hidden in ceiling compartment at a recently shutdown funeral home.
The horrific discovery comes after Michigan State Police received an anonymous letter that alerted them to the whereabouts of the bodies.
According to reports in the US, police found the remains at the Cantrell Funeral Home, in Detroit last Friday.
Police say the bodies which contained that of infants and stillborns were found in an compartment which was located in the ceiling between the first and second floor of the building.
Officers investigating the case say they are unsure of how long the remains were left in the ceiling, but some have since been identified.
The recent manager of the funeral home which was shutdown by last April following an inspection, has said she did not know of the babies existence and has said she is shocked by the discovery.
It is understood the funeral home was shutdown following a report from inspectors who say they found traces of mold on bodies which were being prepared for family funeral arrangements.
