Shocking case of animal cruelty as a poor defenceless small dolphin dies after beach goers try to pose for selfies with it

In a shocking case of animal cruelty a poor defenceless young dolphin has tragically died after a large crowd of Argentinian beachgoers took it from the sea to pose for selfies.

The small dolphin which is a member of a vulnerable species called La Plata (or the Franciscana, which there are only 30,000 left in the world), was disgracefully taken from the water at the beach resort at Santa Teresita on the Argentina coast.

However it sadly passed away within a short space of time, due to the fact it overheated from being out of the water for a ling time. Meanwhile the Argentine Wildlife Foundation has issued a statement, reminding the public that such mammals should be returned to the sea immediately if they’re found on the beach.

The statement reads: “The Franciscana, like other species, cannot remain for much time outside of the water, it has thick fatty skin which gives it heat and means that taking it out of the water rapidly causes it to dehydrate and die,” “This occasion serves to inform the public about the urgent necessity to return these dolphins to the sea as soon as possible if they find them on the shore.

“It is fundamental that people help to rescue these animals, because every Franciscana counts now.”
