A report issued by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) found that a disabled man’s money was embezzled by staff at a care centre in Louth and used to buy cutlery, furnishings, and a fireplace for the premises.
The reports also uncovered 74 incidents of abusive behaviour or assaults in an 8-month long period.
The Broomfield Centre in Louth, which is run by St John of God Services, accommodates 22 adult male residents with intellectual disabilities.
An inspection of the centre found that it failed 14 out of 18 tests carried out.
