A former UK ambassador to the U.S, Sir Christopher Meyer, has been left hospitalised after an animalistic attack on the London Underground the BBC reports.
The 74-year-old was left bloody and beaten with a broken nose and badly swollen eyes after he was set upon while changing Tube lines at London’s Victoria Station.
Meyer is currently still hospitalised and not permitted to eat or drink due to the severity of his injuries.
A 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the assault causing grievous bodily harm but have since been released under investigation The Guardian reports.
London has seen a dramatic rise in violent crime in the past two years, with assaults, stabbings, rapes and shootings surging and the number of murders taking place in the city overtaking New York City on average according a report by The Guardian in May.
