The ISPCA have condemned those responsible for abandoning a dog and her six newborn puppies in Co Roscommon.
It is understood the lurcher dog and her six newborn pups were found chained to a gate in Elphin, recently.
Although the dogs are said to be recovering at the National Animal Centre in Longford, the ISPCA said they are shocked and appalled by the incident and have questioned why would someone purposely abandon a dog and its pups with no food or water.
It is understood the dog and her pups were found by a concerned member of the public who alerted the Gardai and the ISPCA.
The ISPCA say although the dogs were hungry, thankfully they didn’t suffer any other health issues and they are expected to make a recovery.
