Both Sinn Fein and Labour have called on the Government to reintroduce a blanket ban on evictions and rent increases.
Speaking in the Dail labour party leader Alan Kelly called for the Government to seriously consider reintroducing the ban as many people will struggle during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Kelly told the Dail emergency legislation is needed as debts will be crystallised and people will be out on the street.
Meanwhile Sinn Fein have also backed the calls with the party leader Mary Lou McDonald stating that there is severe pressure across all communities especially those in the rental sector.
