Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald will be nominated for Taoiseach today in the Dail

Today the day where Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou Mcdonald’s will try and become Taoiseach and possibly form some sort of coalition.

It looks highly unlikely that it will happen – given Fianna Fail and Fine Gael’s modus operandi but nonetheless we will wait and see.

It’s expected that McDonald will be nominated for Taoiseach but more than likely will not get enough votes to see her dreams of the role come through.

The Sinn Fein leaderwill be nominated for Taoiseach in the Dail when it sits for the first time since the election tomorrow, but Sinn Fein will continue to try and form a left wing coalition government as impossible as that seems.

Should they fail to form a government, the onus falls on Fianna Fail to try and get back into power – more than likely with Fine Gael and the Green Party, but it still remains anyone’s guess as to what likely coalition will actually emerge from election 2020.

Fianna Fail have completely ruled out Sinn Fein, while Fine Gael appear to have somewhat stepped back from Fianna Fail’s invitation. Thursday will be pivotal to see where everyone stands.
