The Department of Justice has confirmed that it will meet officials from Tullamore town municipal authority later today.
The meeting comes after a number of councillors have voiced concerns over plans to open a Direct Provision Centre at the Marian Hostel.
It is believed that the Department of Justice has given the go ahead to open the Provision Centre to house 168 asylum seekers.
However despite agreeing to meet with officials in the region, it is thought that a number councillors had earmarked the building to be used for the homeless.
