The Vincent Browne program was more entertaining than usual last night, as Siptu leader Jack O’Connor became irated with the host’s questioning, took off his microphone, and stormed out of the studio.

Mr. O’Connor asked Vincent Browne about TV3’s own inner workings as they discussed the Dunnes Stores strike issue, stating that he should not be participating in a programme for a company that does not recognise employees’ rights to collective bargaining.

Mr. Browne answered “You knew full well and you now see an opportunity for a stroke.”

And O’Connor retorted “I am making a statement here, which I am entitled to make,” before proceeding to ask Vincent Browne the reason why he provides services to TV3.

At this point, Mr. O’Connor attempted to remove his microphone, but a crew member put it back in his tie. Eventually, Mr. O’Connor did manage to get out of his chair and walk out of the studio.

As the union leader walked away, Mr. Browne said “Ok good luck Jack. Quite a stunt isn’t it? Well done Jack. It’s impressive isn’t it?”
