A total of six puppies were discovered at Dublin Port on Sunday night.

According to the DSPCA, the six pups were found concealed inside a furniture van.

Although the cocker spaniel pups are said to be in good health, the DSPCA say they did not have any vaccinations or have the relevant paperwork.

They added that the pups who are just seven weeks old were taken from their mother too early.

It is understood that the seizure which was assisted by Customs officials, comes as part of an operation targeting illegal dog breeding.
