There was a slight drop in the homeless figure for December, bringing the total to below 10,000 for the first time in many months.
According to an article published by the Irish Mirror, the figure stood at 9,731 as of the end of December 2019.
A number of charities have welcomed the news, but homelessness remains a scourge in Ireland largely because of the inability and unwillingness by successive governments to build enough social housing.
