Small earthquake strikes western Scotland overnight, no reports of damage or injuries




A small earthquake struck western Scotland overnight, there are no reports of damage or injuries.

The epicenter of the 3.1 quake was pinpointed at 11 miles northwest of the town of Lochgilphead in Argyll and Bute, almost 90 miles northwest of Glasgow.

Seismic activity is relatively common in the British Isles, with intensity ranging between 3.0 and 3.9.
