SNOW ALERT: Met Eireann warns of snowfalls across Ireland by Easter Monday

We’re in a seemingly never ending lockdown so why not throw in snow for good measure. If the government’s draconian measures aren’t bad enough it looks like we’re in for snow before any chance that the weather changes for the better.

Met Eireann is warning of snowfalls around the country by Easter Monday.

Saturday and most of Sunday will remain mild and settled, with long sunny spells, and little to no rain.

But the fine conditions will end by Sunday evening as a mass of Arctic air begins to influence Irish weather. Patchy rain will begin to develop by Sunday afternoon across northern areas, spreading southwards as the evening goes on.

Monday will see some wintry falls, particularly over high ground across Ulster and north Connacht, with temperatures remaining in single digits. Monday night is expected to see freezing weather as temperatures sink to below zero.

Tuesday is forecast to be another cold, but mostly dry day, with daytime temperatures reaching 7C at best, and nighttime temperatures sinking to -3C at times.
