The so-called ‘sugar tax’ will come into effect today, which means that you will pay a little more for your favorite fizzy drink from now on.
The new legislation means that any drink containing between five and eight grams of sugar will go up by 20c per litre, while drinks that contain over eight grams will cost an additional 30c per litre.
Producers may assume the costs, but it remains to be seen whether this will be the case or not.
