There have been multiple calls on social media for the Australian actress Eva Morey to receive a Logie Award for her performance as Sonya Rebecci in the Australian soap Neighbours.
The actress has been involved in a storyline for the past number of months that has seen her and her on-screen husband actor Ryan Maloney go through ovarian cancer.
Neighbours has seen a complete resurgence in its popularity as a result of the sad storyline, as bizarre as that sounds. People who never watched the show in years are tuning in to see how they handle such a sensitive and delicate subject. But by all accounts, although it’s sad that the actress has been killed off, they’re very impressed with how they dealt with the storyline right to the end when Sonya died in Tuesday’s show.
The Logie awards are Australia’s Television Awards and are actually quite prestigious. Morey has been tipped already by entertainment publishers in Australia as being in line to get her first at the next award show.
