Social welfare recipients will see their payment date changes due to Bank Holiday

Recipients of social welfare are notified of changes in payment dates after the arrival of the October bank holiday.

With many businesses closed for the day, including credit unions and post offices, there will be some changes to paydays.

This means that multiple people will have to account for changes on the day the funds arrive in their accounts, which could cause headaches for some.

To better prepare your budget for next week, here are some of the main changes that have been confirmed.

Post Office payment arrangements

If the pension payment is to be made at a post office on a public holiday, you can pick it up early on Saturday, October 29.

Recipients paid by check due on a Holiday Monday should also receive it on a Saturday.

All post offices will be closed on public holidays on Monday 31st October and will reopen as normal on Tuesday 1st November.

Credit Union payments

All welfare payments made to bank or credit union accounts will be paid on Tuesday, November 1.

Child Benefit

Parents and guardians can receive their November Child Benefit payment earlier than usual.

This is usually paid on the first Tuesday of each month, but the upcoming Halloween holiday may see people receive the benefit a few days earlier, as the first Tuesday would fall on November 1.

Recipients can receive payment as early as Friday, October 29, or Saturday, October 30.

Finally, parents will also receive an additional single child allowance of €140 per child on top of the normal monthly instalments.
