Some areas of South Dublin -including Jobstown- left without water this morning

The taps have run dry in South Dublin this morning.

Council workers and engineers are said to be working to restore the water supply.

The issue is reportedly due to the new water scheme at Boherboy, though conspiracy theories soon emerged.

Some of the areas affected are Tallaght and Jobstown, both of which have seen heavy protests against water charges. The Tánaiste herself became trapped inside her car in Jobstown yesterday when a group of protesters surrounded the vehicle. The siege lasted for nearly three hours, and she was only allowed to leave the car after some negotiations took place between protesters and Gardai.

Some tweets have left no doubt as to what people are thinking, and how suspicious the timing of the outage is, in their view.
