NASA confirmed that the 63 metre long Falcon 9 rocket exploded seconds after take off.

The vehicle was bound for the International Space Station on a resupply mission. The craft was carrying nearly 2,000 kg of supplies, including food and science material.

This is the first setback experienced by the rocket’s operator, Space Exploration Technologies, owned by entrepeneur Elon Musk.

The crew currently onboard of the ISS have about four months of supplies left, so the failure of this mission does not represent an immediate problem.
