Speculation rises that Ryan Tubridy could be joining GB News as presenter

Ryan Tubridy will host a series of podcasts for Ireland’s leading daily after its public takeover from RTE, reports The Mirror.

The news comes amid growing speculation about the broadcaster’s fate following rumours that he was approached by British channel GB News.

Tubridy, 50, interrupted his morning radio show on June 22, telling listeners he would be back the next day but had been off since then.

His only recent media appearance was a letter published in the Irish Times paying tribute to Sinead O’Connor a few days after her death.

His cousin Brian Hughes told Ireland’s Sunday Mirror that Tubbs “will never lie down”.

The Abbeyglen hotelier, from Clifden, Co Galway, said: “He’s got lots of irons in the fire, he’s not starving of options and choices. He’s in London talking to people and he got that offer to do the big podcast. He will never lie down,” reports The Mirror.

RTE director general Kevin Bakhurst has not spoken to Tubridy since he revealed last week that he would not be returning to his radio show.

The broadcaster has been in trouble since it misreported Ryan Tubridy’s salary and failed to disclose the €345,000 paid to him between 2017 and 2022.

Now it seems the ex-Late Late Show host, who has been cleared of all charges, is gearing up for new pastures and leaving RTÉ behind.

This week, he hinted at a new gig by posting a cryptic message on Instagram, teasing: “A new dawn, a new day, a new beginning. Stay tuned for more.”

He said: “Ryan has been a huge part of Abbeyglen, Clifden and our family for many years. We’ve all been genuinely traumatised and upset by the recent events, it’s hit us all. But Ryan will go from strength to strength. He was definitely rattled four weeks ago but he’s a much better person today,” reports The Mirror.

When contacted Ryan Tubridy’s PR team said: “We are not making any comments on media stories at present,” reports The Mirror.
