Spellbound! US school bans Harry Potter books due to concerns over spell casting that could ‘summon evil spirits’

St Edward Catholic School in Nashville, Tennessee, has moved to permanently ban the Harry Potter books from its library, after a team of exorcists advised caution over spells that could be used to ‘summon evil spirits.’

It is understood that a Reverend Dan Reehil consulted with exorcists both in Rome and locally in the US, seeking advice on the peculiar matter, claiming that the spells written on the books could be used to call on the supernatural to do mischief on the unwary.

Somewhat ironically, the state of Tennessee features some of the most lenient gun laws across the United States. Gun dealers need not obtain state license to do so, for instance, nor there is a requirement for individuals to have a permit to carry shotguns or rifles.
