Sport Ireland has handed over a report which outlines financial affairs at the FAI, to the Gardai.
In an announcement the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross confirmed that the audit which was due to be published last month, has been handed over to An Gardai Síochána.
The news comes after a financial audit was carried out by KOSI Corporation Ltd, earlier this year.
Although no details of the audit have been made public, it is believed that KOSI were seeking more information from the FAI over its financial dealings.
Meanwhile the FAI have confirmed that they are willing to cooperate with An Garda Siochana if any investigation should arise, they also reiterated that all Government funding allocated to them by Sport Ireland was spent appropriately.
