‘Sputnik V’: Russia to roll out Covid-19 vaccine with medical professionals to get first dose within weeks

Russia has reportedly become the first country to regulatory approve a Covid-19 vaccine.

According to BBC News the Russian Government plans to roll out the vaccine in a matter of weeks with medical professionals being given the opportunity to avail of the vaccine first.

Although there has been many questions over the safety of the vaccine dubbed ‘Sputnik V’, Russian President has claimed that the vaccine is completely safe with his daughter already receiving a dose.

The vaccine which has yet to complete phase 3 trials, will be reportedly distributed to millions of people in the coming months with the Russian Government claiming that up to 5 million doses will be manufactured a month by December/January.

Despite the scepticism surrounding the safety and effectiveness of the Russian vaccine, the news of its arrival has seemingly gotten a positive response with the WHO’s Dr David Nabarro describing Russia’s progress as ‘good news’.
