Covid-19: 40 new cases and one further death announced in Ireland

Health authorities have announced 40 new cases and one further death in Ireland.

Counties Kildare, Laois, and Offaly remain in ‘local lockdown’, following a spike of cases there.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has warned that ‘it’s entirely possible’ that further lockdowns might be imposed elsewhere.

European health agencies are urging Ireland to impose a full lockdown as Covid-19 is resurging hard here.
