Stargazers delight! Northern Lights could be visible over Irish and British skies tonight




Stargazers could be in with for treat this weekend as the Northern Lights may be visible over parts of Ireland.

According to BBC News, forecasters in the UK, say the phenomenon which is expected to be at its brightest this weekend could be seen over the British and Irish Isles providing weather conditions are clear.

The phenomenon which is occurs when charged particles from the sun and gaseous particles in the earth’s atmosphere collide and are swept over the earth by solar winds.

It is understood that Northern Scotland and Northern Ireland, will have the best chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis, but those further south in Britain and Ireland could see the phenomenon if there is no cloud cover.

According to Met Éireann weather conditions are expected to be mainly cloudy throughout Saturday, but the cloud cover could clear by nightfall as frosty conditions are expected overnight.
