The Taoiseach is now a confirmed Kylie Minogue fan after it’s been publicised that Varadkar practically begged the Spinning Around Aussie to meet prior to her Dublin concert last October.
In official Department of An Taoiseach paper, Varadkar declared he was a “huge fan” and wanted to meet her.
According to the Irish Daily Mail via the Freedom of Information act, Varadkar said:
“Dear Kylie, Just wanted to drop you a note in advance of the concert in Dublin.”
“I am really looking forward to it. Am a huge fan!”
“I understand you are staying in the Merrion Hotel which is just across the street from my office in Government Buildings.”
“If you like I’d love to welcome you to Ireland personally.”
It’s understood that Kylie personally phoned Varadkar to apologise that she had to cancel the concert because she had a throat infection.
However Varadkar’s Kylie tears were soon dried up as she made her way to Dublin in December and the pair met backstage then.
Many people are saying that’s very embarrassing and even tragic that the Taoiseach is behaving like a teenager, while others say he should have much more important things to be doing on taxpayer’s time rather than sending fan mail to popstars.
