State accommodation has been cut off for some Ukrainians living in Ireland

Today marks the beginning of a 90-day period during which the first Ukrainians housed under a new programme unveiled on March 14 will no longer be eligible for free housing, reports RTE.

RTÉ acknowledges that a limited number of people who were scheduled to vacate their accommodations today owing to the cutoff were able to locate other lodging in the preceding few days.

Though they have 90 days left to find another place to live, some Ukrainian refugees are scheduled to leave approved shelter sites in the counties of Kildare and Limerick in the coming days, reports RTE.

According to a Department of Integration spokesman, visitors would not be allowed to remain more than 90 days.

“Government policy is that a maximum of 90 days in State funded accommodation is made available to Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs) to orient themselves and make their own arrangements should they wish to remain in Ireland,” the spokesperson said, reports RTE.
