There is controversy this evening as the State Examinations Commission have confirmed they have launched a full investigation into a complaint made earlier today regarding a teacher who was seen marking a Leaving Cert exam paper on a DART.
It is understood that a woman made complaint this afternoon after she allegedly seen a teacher marking a Leaving Cert exam paper in a train station and then continued to mark the paper whilst traveling on the DART. The State Examinations Commission have since released a statement confirming that they have now launched a full investigation after they received a report of a possible breach of protocol for marking exam material. The commission have said all examiners are given specific training and all material is highly confidential and should not be accessible to the public.
The woman understood to have made the complaint is named Claire and is from Blanchardstown in Dublin. Claire (no second name given) claims that she saw the teacher marking a Leaving Cert paper while they were waiting for a train Pearse Station this afternoon. Claire told reporters: “It was quite busy because it was morning time, you know, rush hour.” “So when we got on the train then, she sat down. There were a lot of people standing, so there were a lot of people looking over, and she started correcting the same paper again. Claire added: “I was totally shocked and the woman beside me was shocked as well, she was reading the exam paper the whole time we were both on the train.”
If the allegation is found to be true the teacher in question could face the possibility of losing her job and could possibly face legal action.
