The budget airline will now be forced to seek an alternative car hire partner, as Hertz has terminated its contract with immediate effect.
It is understood that the row has come about because Ryanair tickets can now be booked through travel agents using third party global distribution systems (GDS). According to Hertz, Ryanair’s agreement with third paries signifies a breach of contract, and has consequently ended its long-standing business relation with the airline, effective at midday today.
Ryanair is disputing Hertz’s claims, but the ariline will now be likely to seek alternative car hire arrangements with a different company.
Customers who have already booked cars will not be affected by the development, according to a spokesperson.
