Though milder and drier conditions are forecast for this week, alert remains high in communities along the Shannon River, as water levels continue to rise, albeit at a slower rate.
The river is expected to reach its highest point in the coming days.
There was further flooding in some areas of Limerick earlier today. It is understood that 14 homes suffered heavy water damage, along with a number of vehicles.
ESB released a statement saying: “This level of water flow is likely to continue to have associated flooding to land and property in the vicinity of the Shannon downstream of Parteen Weir including the areas of Springfield, Montpelier, Castleconnell, Mountshannon (Annacotty), and the University of Limerick.”
