The storm has affected much of Scotland and Ireland, with a Met Office weather warning in place until midday tomorrow. Heavy rain and strong winds will hit parts of England and Wales, reports Sky.

Today’s Championship football match between Rotherham United and Ipswich Town has been cancelled for safety reasons due to adverse weather conditions, reports Sky.

In an update this afternoon, Rotherham United said that following the flooding of the River Don, discussions had taken place with the Safety Advisory Group, Rotherham Metropolitan Council, the club’s security staff and the EFL team, reaching the conclusion that the weather conditions were deemed unsafe.

As Scotland struggles with persistent storms and flooding, SEPA (the Scottish Environment Protection Agency) is sounding the alarm about the ongoing threat to life.

Despite efforts to convey important safety advice, two fatalities were confirmed.

Speaking to Sky News, SEPA’s Vincent Fitzsimons urged the public to keep up to date with government warnings and precautions, particularly in the most vulnerable areas.

“So the key advice is check the website where you get the latest information on alerts and warnings and to the advice of the emergency services,” he says, reports Sky.
