Storm Brendan: Met Eireann say the “very active storm” has caused widespread power outages, downed trees and localised flooding

Met Eireann say that Storm Brendan has caused widespread power outages, localised flooding and many downed trees across the country.

While it’ll remain windy for the rest of the night, the worst of the storm is over after Storm Brendan brought gusts of over 130km/h to parts of the country.

Up to 12,000 homes and businesses have seen power cuts but the ESB are said to be working on getting most back up to normal by tomorrow morning.

The counties affected most by the power outages include Galway, Limerick, Kerry, Cork and Donegal.

People are advised to be careful if they’re out driving or walking this evening and into the early hours of tomorrow morning.
